Press ReleasesAugust 9, 2006 CareNow Founder Addresses Westlake Village, CA (October 9, 2006) – Ed Bjurstrom, founder and president of CareNow Foundation, Inc., was the keynote speaker at the launch of the Thousand Oaks Chapter of the South African American Business Club (SAABC). In his address to the group, Bjurstrom, a former vice president of operations at Amgen, shared his personal mission for bringing health and healing to people suffering from grievous disease, specifically in remote regions of the world, such as Africa. Bjurstrom informed SAABC that, since the launch of CareNow in April 2006, the Foundation already has three projects underway:
The idea for CareNow was conceived following Bjurstrom’s trip to Africa in 2004. After having witnessed firsthand, the harsh reality of the devastating affects of AIDS and other healthcare issues in Africa, Bjurstrom felt compelled to take action. Bjurstrom ended his speech by encouraging SAABC members to use their economic and financial influence to make a difference in Africa, and emphasized that even in the midst of the overwhelming challenges Africa faces, that saving even one life is of great importance. SAABC is a non-profit organization aimed at creating wealth through trade and networking events for its members and charitable grass roots organizations to benefit the underprivileged in South Africa.
