CareNow Board of Directors
Edward E. Bjurstrom
Mr. Bjurstrom, Founder of CareNow Foundation, Inc. currently serves as
the U.S. Chairman of the International Leadership Foundation, is a board
member for Blackaby Ministries International, is the Founder of the Jon
Witney Foundation, and is the Founder and CEO of Cross Pharmaceuticals
Inc. Mr. Bjurstrom has 28 years of operating experience in the bio-pharmaceutical
industry, including executive leadership roles at Amgen, the world’s
largest biotechnology company.
Mr. Bjurstrom earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
from California State University at Long Beach and completed the Executive
Business Program at the University of Michigan.
John Horton, M.D.
Dr. Horton is currently in private practice of Medicine and Preventive
Medicine in Southern California, and develops programs on individuality,
learning and leadership for Inner Game, Inc., serving large corporations
such as Apple Computers and Coke, USA. Dr. Horton was the Founder and
Clinical Director of the Prem Nagar Medical Services, Hardwar, India and
he Founded World Travelers HealthCare. Dr. Horton has extensive experience
in teaching at such prestigious universities as George Washington Medical
School and the University of Southern California.
Dr. Horton attended and earned degrees from Dartmouth College, Columbia
College, Duke University, and the University of California, San Francisco.
Donna L. Masterman, M.D.
Dr. Masterman is the Associate Medical Director in Early Development at
Amgen and has served as an Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at
the University of California, Los Angeles, David Geffen School of Medicine.
Dr. Masterman has been an active member of several medical societies,
including the American Academy of Neurology, the American Neuropsychiatry
Association and Behavioral Neurology Society, and serves on the board
of directors of the American Society for Experimental Neurotherapeutics.
She has authored or co-author dozens of articles, abstracts, and book
chapters and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for Archives of Neurology,
Clinical Geriatrics, Internal Psychogeriatrics, JAMA, the Journal of Neurology,
Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, the Journal of the American Medical Directors
Association, and The Lancet, among others.
Donna holds BS from UC Davis, MD and MS degrees from University of Washington
and is Board Certified in Neurology. She completed training in Internal
Medicine and University of Washington and Clinical Neurology at UCLA and
fellowship training in Behavioral Neurology and Movement Disorders also
at UCLA.
Paula Day Williams
Paula Day Williams is an Enrolled Agent and principal of NumberCrunchers Business and Financial Services; she’s been solving tax issues in Simi Valley since 1990. Paula has been in accounting and accounting management for over twenty-seven years. She has a BS in Accounting and Information Systems and is currently pursuing a Masters in Taxation.
When she’s not rescuing taxpayers from the IRS, Paula leads seminars on individual and small business taxation, record-keeping and QuickBooks. She’s also a guest columnist on tax topics for the Ventura County Star.
Paula has two daughters – Adrienne, a human resource professional and Melissa, an attorney. While she anxiously awaits some grandchildren, Paula is an active member of the Simi Valley community where she lives with her dachshunds Lilli and Clifford. She is a member of the board of directors of the Simi Valley Community Foundation and the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise. She is also actively involved with the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Simi Valley Police Foundation.
Her hobbies include travel, photography and cooking. Paula’s a gourmet chef -- she’s trained at Le Cordon Bleu and Alain Ducasse cooking schools in Paris – and enjoys putting her skills to use entertaining friends.
