Westlake Village, CA (October 18, 2007) – Peggy C. Pence, Ph.D. has been appointed to the CareNow Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors. Dr. Pence’s appointment is effective immediately. “Dr. Pence is a great asset to the CareNow board. Her background in research and development is extraordinary and her expertise in these areas will help in our long term strategic planning,” said Ed Bjurstsrom, founder of CareNow. The addition of Dr. Pence to the board brings the total to five members.
The CareNow board is responsible for ensuring the following:
- Fulfillment of CareNow’s Mission and Purpose, which is to provide essential healthcare to the world’s least served;
- Effective organizational planning;
- Adequate and effective management of resources;
- Monitoring the organization’s programs and services; and
- A positive public image for the organization.
Dr. Pence is the founder, president and CEO of Symbion Research International, Inc. She spent 13 years at Eli lily and Company and has held multiple management positions at companies, such as Serono Laborties, Triton Biosciences (acquired by Berlex Laboratories, Inc.) and Amgen, Inc. Dr. Pence currently serves on the Board of Directors for BioSource Therapeutics, Inc. and the Scientific Advisory Board for CytoDyn, Inc.
